SPECIAL COAST EXPEDITION
INTO THE EASTERN ASMAT / PAPUA
|
Until today, expeditions in the eastern coastal Asmat are extremly rare operated by
foreigners. In some regions of the upper reaches of the rivers - as Fajit or Dere River - most of the inhabitants have not yet seen any
stranger!
|
 |
The creative art and culture as well as the living tradition of these rarely visited Asmat groups are intact and of a unique
kind of magic. The villages are full of traditional material culture, and everywhere you feel the old magical spirit of the
primal Asmat with it's festivities and rituals. Our Expedition into this area is operated by spacious motor longboats. This tour
doesn't make special physical demands. In the swampland of the Asmat long trekking tours are not possible. This unique
special Expedition is a MUST for art lovers and collectors. Planned

Trikora - Crossing Expedition / PAPUA
FOLLOWING THE TRACKS OF H. A. LORENTZ
Historical routing
This expedition requires top physical and
mental conditions! The trekking-tour takes us through all vegetation zones of
the equatorial New Guinea: from icy, alpine rock- and snow mountains
through constantly humid upland moor landscapes, magical
mountain-rainforests down into the hot, tropical low land jungle
and further to the mangrove
forests along the coastline. An absolute unique expedition and a fantastic
experience of flora and fauna, as well as the countless ethnic
tribes that we will meet during our expedition. In 2007 this track
was mastered by the first touristic group, operated by Dr. Werner
Weiglein. A real challenge!
We will start in Wamena by truck up to the Habema lake in 3.500
meters altitude. From here it takes us 5 days to reach the summit of
the Mount Trikora (4.750m) - one of the highlights of this journey. Going
down from here in southern direction, we will pass through new
touristical ground! Again and again we encounter mountain papua
tribes, living in hidden settlements down to 1.000 meters. Then we
pass deserted concrete virgin forests to the upper reaches of huge
rivers, from where we start going down by logboat. Forest nomads
populate these pathless primeval forests. Only at the underflows of
the rivers we find permanent settlements of numerous ethnic groups.
The closer we get to the coast, the huger the villages are. By
motorboat we reach the mine town Timika on the southcoast after 18
days, the final point of our expedition. The end of a fantastic
tour, which impressions will remain in mind of the participants for a
lifetime! Planned

Mamberamo - WITH
CROCODILE HUNTERS / expedition /
PAPUA
Sensational tour into the last "terra
incognita" of Papua
| Our
group will accompany native
crocodile hunters along the upper reaches of the enormous
Mamberamo river in the northern lowlands of West-Papua |
 |
We
will experience and watch with our own eyes how traditionally living
tribe people will track and hunt down giant crocodiles and see the
traditional using and meat allocation. One 6-8 meters long animal is
the minimum bag guaranteed during the hunting! Besides the intact
structures of the tribes with their traditional hunting rituals in
which the mythic legendary world of the giant crocodiles has the
highest interest, it is challenging to visit this absolutely untouched
jungle world, one of the most inaccessible and unaffected prime forest
regions of this planet. In
the recent past uncountable species (birds, insects, even mammals)
were entirely new discovered in the Mamberamo basin. This expedition
opens up a primal world, far away from any civilization and guarantees
pure adventure. The tour is not physically straining, as it is
performed by boats. There are no bigger trekking tours provided in the
boondocks. Planned

The settlement
area of the Momogo tribe, which are famous for their handicraft culture, is
located about 3-4 daytrips by motor boat from the southcoast at the upper
reaches of the river Pomats. We will experience a phantastic nature along
the unknown jungle rivers and reach some of the isolated settlements of the
Asmat tribes. The Biwak settlements of the Saw tribes are absolutely unique,
huge iglu-like shacks built of enormous Nippa palm leaves. The wood craft
and living culture of these Western Asmat tribes are still mostly intact and
we might have a chance to witness traditional sing-sings. The tour is not
straining as there are no trekking parts provided. Planned
