STONE KURUWAI EXPEDITION - INTENSIVE TOUR / PAPUA

Expedition through the northern TABU ZONE!

A special pioneer expedition into the territories of the legendary STONE KURUWAI tribes in the southern pathless lowland jungles.. We start this expedition by charter flight to Siradala, located at the upper branches of the West Siret river. After 2 trekking days through the territories of the Kopkaka tribes, we reach the “Siret node”, where West Siret and East Siret meet. At the nearby river settlement Omongot, we will have our first contact with some Stone Kuruwai. Accompanied by selected guides and porters, we start into the unknown pathless rainforests in south eastern direction to the airstrip Yanirumah. During this trekking tour, we firstly reach the treehouse settlement of the Ajak-Clan. After one day rest there, we continue our trekking for two more days, before we reach the treehouses of the Yamu-Clan. Here we take a longer rest, spending our time by watching the daily life of these unique forest nomads. Further on, we continue trekking in direction to Yanirumah, crossing the fertile sago-swamps of the Avium river, passing numerous picturesque treehouse settlements on our way. From Yanirumah we take a flight back to Wamena, where we rest 2 days at the beautiful THE BALIEM VALLEY RESORT, before departing back home. Planned itinerary

In 1962 the mountain was ascended for the first time by Heinrich Harrer. Expeditions to this primeval ice-region require complex proceeds of permission. Dr. Weiglein is according to his contacts one of a very small number of persons who successfully organised this journey seven times. Exploring the Pacific prime forests and snow mountains is an outstanding adventure. For further informations, please visit:  www.carstensz-summit.de

Mamberamo - WITH CROCODILE HUNTERS / expedition / PAPUA
Sensational tour into the last "terra incognita" of  Papua

Our group will accompany native crocodile hunters along the upper reaches of the enormous Mamberamo river in the northern lowlands of West-Papua

We will experience and watch with our own eyes how traditionally living tribe people will track and hunt down giant crocodiles and see the traditional using and meat allocation. One 6-8 meters long animal is the minimum bag guaranteed during the hunting! Besides the intact structures of the tribes with their traditional hunting rituals in which the mythic legendary world of the giant crocodiles has the highest interest, it is challenging to visit this absolutely untouched jungle world, one of the most inaccessible and unaffected prime forest regions of this planet. In the recent past uncountable species (birds, insects, even mammals) were entirely new discovered in the Mamberamo basin. This expedition opens up a primal world, far away from any civilization and guarantees pure adventure. The tour is not physically straining, as it is performed by boats. There are no bigger trekking tours provided in the boondocks. Planned itinerary

EUR 4.650,-- per person in ½ double bed room/tent
EUR    350,-- single supplement

Minimum: 6 persons
