1.trekking day to the traditional tribal lands of
the Kuruwai. Beautiful primal forests and unique human contacts await us
there. Altogether we have 9 trekking days. On the 9th day we must get back
to MABUL!
We start our trekking from MABUL in northern direction into the deep forests
of the Kuruwai. Daily tent camps next to traditionally living Kuruwai
families, close to their impressive tree houses. The tree houses always are
located next to wonderful, fresh waters. So every day, a refreshing bath is
guaranteed! When we meet bigger family clans, we will stay two nights, so
that we have time to study the living conditions and mode of work of
these unique forest nomads. Our tour leads us from north to the east and
afterwards back to MABUL.

END OF TOUR
|
|
Please note:
We reviewed this expedition with level of difficulty
***. Everyone in good physical condition can handle this tour - but the
extreme climatical conditions in this region are highly straining! The
paths in the rainforests are plane and often easy to go. Here and there we
have to get over swampy passages and primitive tree bridges by the help of
our local porters.
The main luggage is carried by our local Kuruwai
porters. Each participant carries only his personal daypack. The daily
stages should not be more than 4-5 hours.
Spacious 2- or 1-man tents are provided. Also the
complete cooking equipment. In principle nobody needs to bring any private
food. But little snacks (chocolate etc.) are a welcome variety, and most
of our participants carry it along.
For any further questions, please do not hesitate to
contact us.
Important:
Passport
has to be valid minimum 6 months at entry. Please
check with your embassy about the visa procedure. At entry to Papua, each
participant must bring 2 pass photos for the surat jalan (travel permit
