Planned itinerary:

1. day:
|
In the afternoon departure from Frankfurt to Denpasar/Bali.
|
|
2. day:
|
Around noon arrival in Denpasar/Bali/Indonesia. Transfer to our Hotel IDA in
Kuta. Dinner.
|

3. day:
|
Early in the morning flight to Jayapura/Papua. Arrival around 07.30h a. m.
local time. After short transit, connecting flight to Wamena in the highlands
of New Guinea. Transfer to the magnificiant THE
BALIEM VALLEY RESORT. Lunch and dinner at the Resort. The
afternoon is free for relaxing.

4. day:
|
Excursions to the surroundings of the resort. This is another day for
acclimatisation.
|
|
5. day:
|
|
Daytour
to the northern Baliem Valley. Visit of the traditional saltspring
near Jiwika. Lunch at a nearby Dani hamlet. Afterwards visit of a very
old mummy of a clan chief.

6. day:
|
Daytour
on the Baliem River. The tour in our huge gum boat starts at the middle of
the Baliem Valley, passing Wamena and leading us to the striking hanging
bridge of Wesaput. There our vehicles await us to bring us back to the
resort.

7. day:
|
| Whole
day pig cooking party of the Dani at a native hamlet. This gorgeous,
exotic spectacle will enthuse all photo and movie fans. New Guinea
pure!

8. day:
|
Daytour to the South Baliem Valley. Starting point of our 6 hour trekking
tour is near Kurima, from there we walk along the mighty Baliem River on
easy tracks. Today again we will enjoy great photo motives: hanging bridges,
traditional hamlets and field facilities, friendly natives and phantastic
nature.

9. day:
|
Today we plan trekking tour to the Pugima Valley nearby our resort. Lunch
break with local families, visit of a traditional pottery. 5 hours easy
walk.
|

10. day:
|
Free day at the beautiful resort. Everyone can do what he likes.
|
|
11. day:
|
In the morning transfer to airport and flight to Jayapura. Transfer to Hotel
Sentani Indah or Ratna Indah. In the afternoon tour to the nearby Defabre Beach. Lunch and
dinner in Sentani.
|

12. day:
|
In the morning drive to the border of Papua Niugini (about 3 hours). After
passing the border drive to Vanimo (about 2 hours). In the afternoon flight
to Wewak, operated by Air Niugini (about 20 minutes flight time). Transfer
to our Hotel Windjammer, located directly on the beach.

13. day:
|

Drive to Middle Sepik by truck, seated on it's top. 8 hours drive to the
Marpik region, the home of the Abelam tribes. Tent camp near the ghosthouse. |

14. day:
|
3 more hours, then we reach Pagwi on the middle Sepik. Start of our boat
tour on the Sepik. Today we plan to reach the well known small town Kamimbit
on the Chambri lake. Tent camp inside the spacious settlement.
|
|
15. day:
|
Whole day stay in Kamimbit. We visit traditional artists and enjoy typical
sing-sings and music of the natives.
|
|
16. day:
|
Whole day tour on the beautiful Chambri lake, which is overgrown by blue
hyacinths at many parts. Visit of some settlements. Tent camp at a suitable
place.
|
|
17. day:
|
By boat downstream the Sepik. Visit of some traditional hamlets, as
Yenchenmangua, Korogo, Suapmeri and Kanganaman. Tent camp at the most
beautiful place.
|
|
18. day:
|
We are back in Pagwi. Around noon we start our way back to Wewak. Tent camp
on the way.
|
|
19. day:
|
We reach Wewak. Overnight at Hotel Windjammer. The beautiful beach invites
us for expanded walks.
|
|
20. day:
|
Transfer to Airport and flight back to Jayapura in Indonesia. Arrival in
Jayapura in the evening. Overnight at Hotel Sentani Indah or Ratna Indah.

IMPORTANT:
|
Depending on the flight day we might have stay one additional day at the
Sepik, which we would spend in a traditional hamlet.
|

21. day:
|
Transfer to Airport flight to Denpasar/Bali. Arrival in Bali in the early
afternoon. In the evening connecting flight to Frankfurt.
|
|
22. day:
|
In the morning arrival in Frankfurt.
|

Please
note:
Passport
has to be valid minimum 6 months at entry. Please
check with your embassy about the visa procedure. At entry to Papua, each
participant must bring 4 pass photos for the surat jalan (travel permit
for West-Papua) and visa for Niugini.
