Departure from Frankfurt around noon.
|
|
10.01.11:
|
Around noon arrival in Bali/Indonesia. Transfer to our hotel IDA.

|
Around 02.30h a.m. LT, flight by GARUDA INDONESIA to Timika. Arrival around 07.00h LT.
Connecting flight to EWER/ASMAT is planned on the same day. After arrival in EWER transfer by boat (30min) to AGATS,
overnight at hotel Anggrek.

12.01.11:
|
This day we spend at the most important settlement inside the ASMAT. We prepare our boat crew and
equipment for the expedition. There is time to go to the worth visiting ASMAT MUSEUM of the mission.
|

13.01.11:
|
Today we start in eastern direction. If the weather is fine, we follow the coastline to BIWER-LAUF
(about 5 hours drive). In bad weather we go on small river canals in the hinterland (in that case about 7 hours drive). After
arrival we raise our camp (tents, cooking place) inside the central menhouse or an empty house of the locals or at the
school. Every day it will be the same procedure.

Today we drive to OMANDESEP. Maybe we visit WARKAI. Overnight planned in OMANDESEP, which
is famous for its' artificial handycraft.
|

15.01.11:
|
Short drive on the open sea to PIRIEN and especially to OTSJANEB, as well a famous place of the old
ASMAT. We intend to spend the night over here.
|
|
16.01.11:
|
Again short drive on the open sea. After about 1 hour we reach the Fajit river mouth. Further upstream,
where we want to visit some isolated villages. Overnight planned in PIRAMAI.
|

17.01.11:
|
Today we stay in the Fajit river region. We might visit another location and rearrange our night camp.
Depending on the circumstances and on which suits us best.
|

18.01.11:
|
Today we visit the places SANTAMBOR and JAPTAMBOR, directly located on the open coast.
Overnight in JAPTAMBOR. When the tide goes out around noon, we cannot leave these villages anymore.
|

19.01.11:
|
Today we reach the Dere river mouth. Further upstream. In this rivershed some isolated settlements
await us and we plan about 4 overnights in this region.

Drive to KAJERIN, as well located on the coastline. This place is famous for its' crocodile
representation in traditional art.

Whole day in KAJERIN.

Start of our return journey to Agats. We plan to spend the night on the way,
maybe in JOW.
|
|
26.01.11:
|
Around noon we will reach Agats. Check-in at hotel Anggrek.

|
Free day in Agats. We must pack our art treasures properly and prepare everything for a fast sea
freight to Bali.
|

28.01.11:
|
In the morning transfer to Ewer. Flight to Timika, transfer to hotel Komoro. Rest of day free. There is a
nice pool at hotel Komoro, and it will be easy to have the last days' experiences come to an end while enjoying a cool glass
of beer.

|
Around 11.30h LT departure by GARUDA INDONESIA nonstop to Denpasar/Bali. Arrival around
14.30h LT. Around 18.00h connecting flight to Frankfurt.
